Casino – A Movie Review

A casino is a building that houses and accommodates certain types of gambling activities. In the United States, casinos are mostly located in cities with substantial populations or in areas where tourism is a major industry. Some smaller towns, however, are known for their casinos as well.

While some games in a casino may involve skill, most are pure chance. A player inserts currency and pushes a button to spin the reels or play the video screen. Modern slot machines may feature physical spinning reels or use digital simulations of them, but they all work the same way. Only a very few casino games have some element of skill, such as video poker and blackjack.

There’s no shortage of violent action in Casino, and the movie has plenty of compelling themes, but it’s also a sad depiction of greed and corruption. The characters are so mired in violence, treachery, and avarice that you almost feel sorry for them – particularly Sharon Stone’s character, Ginger.

The movie is about the mob and it’s a dark and gritty look at the world of organized crime. It’s one of Scorsese’s more violent films, and there are some scenes that are over the top, but they’re all in keeping with the brutal reality of the mob. Interestingly, the movie also focuses on how a family can be destroyed by the mafia. The movie has some great performances from Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and many others.
